A+E Networks Appoints Brandgenuity as Licensing Agent for the HISTORY® Brand and its Hit Programming

New York, NY (February 07, 2012) – As the HISTORY® brand and its programming continue to hit new ratings heights, A+E Networks has appointed New York City-based Brandgenuity as its licensing agent on behalf of HISTORY. The leading independent agency, named “Best Licensing Agency of 2008” by License Global Magazine, will be responsible for creating strategic partnerships for some of the network’s hit series such as “Ice Road Truckers,” “Swamp People,” “American Pickers,” and “Top Shot.” The announcement was made by Kate Winn, Senior Vice President, A+E Networks Consumer Products.

Brandgenuity will seek to expand the existing HISTORY licensing program, developing new initiatives and partnerships and providing comprehensive program management. Brandgenuity is also tasked with developing nationwide retail partnerships. Leveraging the HISTORY brand and its unique status as an authority on all things history, Brandgenuity will pursue specific product categories reflective of the network’s series, as well as expand into the travel arena with experiential trips representative of show character jobs, locations and lifestyles.

The channel finished the year as the #1 non-fiction entertainment network in all key demos. HISTORY reached Top Five in A25-54/18-49, Men 25-54/18-49 and Top 10 in A18-34/Men18-34. Since 2009, HISTORY has enjoyed the best two year growth for any network – up 52% in A25-54 and A18-49.

HISTORY has 10 of the top 50 non-fiction series on cable among A25-54 and 9 of the top 50 among A18-49 – more than any other network. HISTORY stays on top of key brand studies, tying for #1 in 2011 in overall quality (among 81 networks ranked) in the National Equitrend Study.
