Carmen Sandiego Returns with New Show and Licensing Program
Brandgenuity selected as global brand licensing agency for new show on Netflix
New York, NY (May 18, 2017) – Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, global learning company and award-winning publishing house, is working with leading global brand licensing agency, Brandgenuity, to build a licensing program for the forthcoming Carmen Sandiego series reboot, set to air on Netflix in 2019.
Netflix has commissioned 20 episodes of the new animated series, which will feature Gina Rodriguez as the voice of the red-coated, fedora-wearing super thief. Rodriguez is currently the Golden Globe-winning star of the hit CW series, Jane the Virgin. Carmen’s sidekick, Player, will be voiced by Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things. Each episode of the new series is expected to be approximately 22 minutes long on average.

Carmen Sandiego originally starred in more than 20 computer games and a hit TV show that aired for several years on PBS and now will appeal to a new generation. In the new series, viewers will learn about Carmen’s past and follow along with her through a fresh set of capers around the globe.
