Brandgenuity Announces New Licensees for New Carmen Sandiego
Carmen Sandiego to extend into board games, interactive handheld games and Halloween costumes
New York, NY (February 15, 2019) – Brandgenuity announced today that it has partnered with Goliath Games, Basic Fun, and Spirit Halloween to further the licensing program for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s buzzed-about Carmen Sandiego brand, which launched as a Netflix animated series in January. In addition the series, HMH is bringing Carmen back across multiple channels, including a publishing program with debut title Who in the World is Carmen Sandiego?; the simultaneous Spanish-language edition, ¿Quién es Carmen Sandiego?; and the Audible audiobook edition, and a Carmen in the Classroom educational program.

Licensees will create fun products that entertain and encourage learning through role play, geography and global exploration. Goliath Games will launch a Carmen Sandiego board game while Basic Fun is developing a handheld Carmen Sandiego game modeled off an on-screen gadget from the series. Both are set to launch in fall 2019. Spirit Halloween will let kids live just like the fedora-clad globetrotter, with Carmen Sandiego costumes and inspired accessories just in time for Halloween 2019.

Season one of the new series launched on Netflix on January 18, 2019, and stars Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) as the voice of Carmen Sandiego and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), as her tech-whiz sidekick, Player. Carmen Sandiego follows new capers and villains in every episode, and reveals for the first time, her identity as a modern-day Robin Hood traveling the globe, stealing from VILE and giving back to its victims. A live action movie starring Gina Rodriguez is currently in development.
Brandgenuity will continue to build out the licensing program with toys, games, apparel, accessories, back-to-school, social expression and more.
